Are You Sure You’re Going All In?

Comments Off

If you watched my review of Crush It, you’ll notice that I talked about how important it is to follow your passion. What I’m seeing all across the board though, is that many people are not, which is why they are failing.

I’m a believer that if you love what you do, then it won’t feel like work. However, if you are forcing yourself to do anything you don’t want to do, then you will find a way to fail. This is much more important when it comes to creating a lifestyle business, because if you aren’t all in, then you will eventually go out of business. What happens then is up to you, but it usually amounts to people blaming the system, or saying that it just isn’t possible anyway…this is an injustice to the process and to the rest of the people in the world that need encouragement to try making their own game.

What You Shouldn’t Be Doing

Stop buying feel good products that teach you how to sell books about teaching parrots to talk. Forget about selling affiliate products about products you don’t believe in. Forget about most of the crap you’ve been taught in the IM world. Why? Because if you don’t enjoy it, then it won’t work. Seriously, the difference between successful people and those that don’t make it is only 1 thing:

Not Giving Up When it Gets Tough

Now here’s the thing…if you don’t believe in what you are doing, then you won’t take the extra steps you need to learn more about your niche. You won’t suffer through the 12 hour days it takes to get your business off the ground. You’ll see failure as evidence that your business was never meant to be, and you’ll quit.

You also won’t mind that it doesn’t make money at first, because you are enjoying it. Writing that book and finally getting the monkey off your back, will feel much better than trying to create an AdSense website dedicated to dog outfits or wheelchair decorations. If that’s your thing, then go for it, but if it isn’t, then stop…right now.

Invest in Your Basic Skill Set

Rather than buying $2,000 products, you need to buy stuff that will teach you how to improve your basic skills. You’ll need to learn as much as you can about your niche. You’ll need to learn how to write sales letters and how to craft a more compelling email.

Spend cash learning how to write an effective eBook or how to create a good video product. Invest in your education, not the system. The system is simple and you see it every day. The things that make you feel good, inspire you to take action, comment on a post, and take your game to the next level…those are the things that work. Those are the tried and true tactics that you can master. Create a platform, connect, and react. Learn from the process, rinse, and repeat.

Connect

You’ll need to spend time connecting with your audience wherever they hang out. You’ll need to view your business as a lifestyle, not as a way to separate people from their money. Don’t buy into the fact that you need to slam people with emails and marketing messages when you can take the personal approach and turn them into a lifelong fan.

Too many marketers grab the cash and then slam their customers with offers. I received an email the other day that made me feel really good and reinforced my belief that this system works. The customer thanked me for not forgetting about them after the sale. This kind of interaction is important to me, and I want more of it. That is what drives me to keep moving forward and that is what should drive you…not the cash.

If you live your passion, and live your dream, then you’ll enjoy every single day. This is how you know that you are heading in the right direction. If you can’t stay motivated, if you can’t keep the drive, then you might not be all in.

So let me know below in the comments, have you gone all in?

    Hey Nathan,

You can only give it your all–and deliver maximum value to the world–when you're passionate.

You can only force yourself to do something for so long – once the pain of continuing reaches an undesirable level, you quit. But when you're passionate about something, you would do it anytime, anywhere.

When no one is paying attention, or you're making zero money, or the critics are outnumbering the fans, you keep going. You love the activity, not just the end result that comes of it. Nothing is going to stop you from doing it.

And because you give it your all, you end up making better stuff and faster. It's actually doing the world a disservice by NOT following your passion. People want your full-assed unique value, not half-assed products.

    Keep following your passion,
    Oleg

Brilliantly stated. In fact, the way you framed it reminds me of something Ayn Rand would say. Do your thing, even if the world doesn't accept it. They'll need it before long.
