The “B” Word is Missing – Let’s Bring it Back

dark beach videoI want it now.

I don’t want to have to work for it, but I still want it.

I deserve it.

It’s my turn.

I’ve suffered enough.

This is the type of thinking that scars entrepreneurs and keeps people from achieving their dreams.

They aren’t willing to work for it…they see others becoming successful, and instead of analyzing that process in order to see how they can repeat it (hence the book, Beyond Blogging), they ignore the years of hard work that successful people might have put in and instead focus on the end result.

Jealousy and bitterness replaces hope and optimism, and all too often, it happens very quickly.

My Failure

I once owned a real estate business that I built from the ground up. I was making nearly 5 figures per month on my own, without a single employee, and most of my day consisted not of hard work, but of sales presentations and phone calls.

It was great…in fact it was so great that I got greedy and lazy…and guess what? It fell apart more quickly than the US Hockey team in overtime.

For years I was paralyzed by fear…fear of failing again…fear of rejection…fear of losing it all once more.

So I tried to learn what it takes to be happy just paying the bills…working a job that I hated. I consciously let go of my dreams so that I could learn how to do this…I was going to accept just existing…what a tragedy!

But then something happened…I was laid off a week before Christmas without so much as a thank you or a going away gift. That was one of the lowest points of my life. Here I was….trying to do things the “right way,” by “being realistic” and not dreaming too much…and then realizing it was nothing more than a big lie. I was a replaceable cog in a shitty machine.

So I found myself in the US Army…following the path of my grandfather and trying to reforge a new sense of self worth. I found a renewed sense of discipline during my time in the Army. I learned what it’s like to really be in the suck…I learned how lucky we are to have the opportunities we have. To be able to walk away from a job at any time and create a real life for ourselves….through nothing more than some hard work and a bit of chance.

Reclaiming Your Destiny

And that’s when I started pouring my energy into something that I believed in.

That’s when I started running, and writing, and believing again…

That’s when I spent 8 months in Afghanistan building a business in my spare time while my friends played XBOX.

That’s when I let go of my fear and put everything on the line once again.

Why Live at All?

I realized that a life without passion and a sense of purpose is one that isn’t worth living. I realized that I still had time to pick up my dreams, dust them off, and make a run at it.

You know what happened? Things started falling into place once more, and the only difference between now and then was that I tried…I refused to give up.

You know how Gary V says all the time that he’s going to own the NY Jets? I have no doubt that he will.

Why? Because he believes, within the very fiber of his being, that he’s going to.

And that’s how I feel about my own success; it’s just a matter of time.

The Winning Difference

That’s the difference right there. That’s why some people fail and some people succeed. That’s why people don’t stop until they’ve made it, while others quit before they get to the end of the rainbow.

Belief…

Yes, there’s hard work involved, but if you don’t believe in yourself, then who will?

If you don’t believe in your dreams, then who’s going to make them happen for you?

No one.

Yes You Can

Why then do I see so many people looking for excuses instead of answers?

Why do I see people that aren’t willing to put in the effort…the time…the investment…in order to be successful?

Here’s what I think: Because they don’t believe they’ll make it.

But you can.

When Opportunity Knocks

My mission in life has been to teach people how to be successful, so that I can not only build Kings and Queens, but so that I can help to build an unstoppable force capable of changing the world.

It’s time we take back our lives and start living again…that’s why I’m so passionate about this stuff, and that’s why Mike CJ and I created the Beyond Blogging Project.

That’s why we’ve decided to invest 6 months of our time, energy, and focus into creating a system that bloggers can use to take their business to the next level. I don’t make my money blogging…I make it by creating businesses. That’s what we want to teach there…we want to teach you how to pick up your dreams, dust them off, and put them back on the pedestal.

We want to create Kings and Queens…and I have no doubt that we are going to.

It Starts Friday

We start the Beyond Blogging Project on Friday, with or without you. We’re not looking to force anyone in or use powerful marketing techniques to trick you into joining. We think the project speaks for itself.

A team of experts…backed by a team of mentors…working closely with 50 bloggers in order to build powerful lifestyle businesses. It’s going to be awesome.

The good news is that we’ve still got a few slots left, and that’s what I wanted to talk to you about today.

If you’ve got any inkling at all that you have what it takes to quit your job and start living once more, then I think we have something for you.

If you have the desire to make a living doing what you love, then we’ve got something for you.

If you’re willing to walk the talk, then we’ve got something for you.

As it stands, you’ve got two options…

Continue to try and learn everything on your own…the hard way, or cut years off your learning curve by joining a community of experts and mentors…supported by 49 other people.

If you’d like to learn more, simply download this small PDF, read the details, and submit your application. Or, if you have questions, join us at 2PM EST for our free webinar.

It’s time we bring back our passion with belief…wouldn’t you say?

I believe Henry David Thoreau said it best when he said:

“The mass of men lead quiet lives of desperation.”

He couldn’t be closer to the truth.

Release Your Dreams

  • What a great post! I especially liked when you said "Belief…Yes, there’s hard work involved, but if you don’t believe in yourself, then who will? If you don’t believe in your dreams, then who’s going to make them happen for you? No one."

I too, had dreams and lost it all! Now, I'm rebuilding. You're absolutle right when you allow fear to control your decisions after a lost then you will end up living a mediocre life.

Here is the definition of the word mediocre (of only ordinary or moderate quality; neither good nor bad; barely adequate.)

Who wants to live life that way? Not me! When I can have an extravagant life that has been promised to me by Almighty God himself!

So, I decided to go for it again. Although I've learned a lot these past couple of years. You could say that I'm much more prudent that I use to be.

Ultimately, the bottom line is now I "BELIEVE" again and I know nothing can stop me, but, me. So I"ve picked up the pieces and I'm forging ahead! Thanks for being beacon.
  • Thanks Jackie. I've had people tell me I "couldn't do it" my entire life, so I've learned how to protect my dreams when no one else would.

So glad to hear you've decided to go for it...and that the belief is there. I always said that I'd rather go down in flames than not try at all.

    Hi.
I'm retired and ex Italian. I have no knowledge of internet. If somebody is willing
to teach me one thing at the time, I'll eventualy will become amazing. I'd like to
become an affiliate of some good company for about 40 or 50 $ fee a month.
So fahr nobody has the patience to take me on. Usually, I'm covered with info and
I feel overwelmed and give up. Thank you.
  • ex Italian...haven't heard that one before :)

The best way to learn is by watching others do it and of course, studying materials. Before you learn to make money, you'll need to learn the basics. It's not easy, but it can be done.

I am having an incredibly busy day, but when I saw this post I had to comment because a) it echoes my own thoughts and feelings about this, so I can say PREACH IT BROTHER, and b) as one of the BB mentors, I'm excited to be working with everyone on the inside.
  • Thanks for making time Michael, and for your help with the BBP. Maybe there's enough belief in you and I to go around :)
  • Let's go BBP!! So excited to start tomorrow.

Great story - looking forward to working with you.
  • It's going to be fun :)
  • I thought the B word was Balls! Only kidding... kinda...
on a related note: (not my link, I just think it's relevant...)

I do have a track called Belief though, which is maybe worth a listen:

  • I refuse to be a queen. I'ma be the empress, remember? Don't worry... like you said... it's only a matter of time.

But like I said yesterday, it's crazy how many people will pay for these courses and then expect everything to just fall in their laps.. They can believe all they want, but if they don't work towards this goal it's useless.
  • Oh, that's right...my bad, my bad :)

Only a matter of time...feels good when you look at it that way doesn't it?
  • Great motivational post,

Godlike belief coupled with obsession and delusions of grandeur are favorite ways of thinking.
Good luck with your project !
  • I love delusions of grandeur...they keep hope alive :)
  • Great post Nathan. It really comes down to belief. You can do everything else right but if your beliefs aren't in place and in line with what you want or you have no beliefs at all, things won't work out. You'll continue to fail, every single time.

It's quite interesting to see that the majority of success lies in the mental part of things rather than the physical. Yes, you gotta work hard and do other things "physically" right, but if you aren't together mentally, the foundation of everything you do, again, things won't work out.
  • It really is mental...anyone can learn the physical stuff...it's the mental stuff that is hard to foster and develop.
  • As always, interesting post Nathan.
About christmas: something like that happened to me the 22nd of the last december, then i started my new project.
The dreams are the goals, visions, and missions we imagine and build while we are thinking.
What we need to make them true is a plan. Some of us sometime have a wrong conception of what a plan is: We think that making a plan is about "guessing" the future. A plan is about Building the future.
    Have a good day.
  • Sickening feeling...at least it was for me. I look back though and thank the stars...was destiny :)
  • Great tale of resilience - I almost got to thinking the B word was Bounceback! Everyone suffers from self doubt at some time and you can see it in the way people walk, hang their head, shoulders stopped. I have always said you cannot see the stars while you're looking in the gutter and I am fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the worlkd where all I have to do if I feel a bit down is looking at the countryside around me and that lifts me.

I'd love to join Mike and you on the course but I cannot commit to the time at the moment with a full time job, the blog, family life, etc. Maybe if I spend too much time on the blog and the wife divorces me citing the computer I can sign up :-)
  • Bounceback isn't a bad one either! That's of huge importance too.

I like that quote...it's so true. Always look up...forward...never down or back.

Divorce is just going to cost you money, so maybe we'll see you in the next round :)
  • Good post, even better story, keep believing, it will happen. If you can start a business from Afghanistan you can do anything.
  • Thanks man, always wondered when the right time to share it might be...guess I've waited too long.
