Blogging Advice from the Six Figure Master

A Story of Gratitude

I started talking to David Risley some time last year when I was in Afghanistan. I liked the fact that he was down to earth and offered practical advice for new bloggers trying to cut their teeth in this crazy market.

When I approached him about guest posting, he was really cool about it, and as we continue to talk, I continued to send in guest posts. Over time, my blog grew, and Dave’s advice really helped my progression.

Forward to October

When I signed up for the Blogworld Expo in Las Vegas, I had plans on meeting a lot of the bloggers that inspired me. Dave was one of them.

I wasn’t really sure how it would go, or if they’d be willing to hang out with a guy like me…walking in to the convention on that first day was a little nerve wracking, but I was determined to at least extend a hand to say thanks.

The minute I shook hands with David, I realized that talking to him in person was just like talking via email or chat. The dude was real, and I was relieved.

The funny part of the story was when he said “hey this is Darren Rowse, you might know him,” as he pointed to a gentleman he was talking with that I completely ignored.

Embarrassed and laughing because I cut off a conversation between two probloggers, I reached out and shook Darren’s hand and hung out to talk for a while.

Over that weekend, I got a chance to hang out with David, and we became friends (funny how that works).

The point of the story is that Dave is a regular guy, like the rest of us, but when it comes to blogging, he’s a master. He’s been doing it since before I knew it existed, and he makes around 200k/year in the process.

Although I pride myself on knowing a thing or two on blogging, Dave is the Obi Wan to my Anakin (before he killed all the little jedi children), and I figure that if I learned how to become a better blogger because of him, then there’s a chance that you can too.

The Six Figure Blogger Blueprint

Dave, just released an awesome free report, that teaches you how he obtained a six figure salary as a blogger, called The Six Figure Blogger Blueprint. I’ve read it, and it’s really useful.

I know, free reports abound on the internet and it’s hard to find time to read them all, but this is one you should make time for.

As you know, I don’t recommend much, but when I do, it’s something I believe in, and this is no exception. There’s nothing to buy, so just go check it out.

After you read it, come back and let me know what you think. I’d love to hear your comments.

  • If I'm Obi Wan, then dude, I've gained weight. ;-)

Yeah, its an interesting story. I always find it interesting how people assign "celebrity" to people with a blog. I used to do it myself. Being on the receiving end of it makes me realize how artificial it is, because I haven't found a blogger yet, regardless of success, that I thought was fake or anything.

BTW, Bob, look forward to your comments about the Blueprint.
  • haha, it's the force man...it does what it wants.

I haven't either, but being the first time I was going to meet the people on the other side of the screen, I was worried. It's great that there's no need to be.
  • Nathan, thanks for letting us know about this free report. Anything I can learn from a master is thoroughly appreciated. I will re-comment after reviewing the report.

    Best,
    Bob
