Click Here to Check Out the Firestarter Sessions

When I first heard about this launch, I wasn’t sure what to think.

I’d heard nothing but positive comments about Danielle, and like all good cynics, that led me to be a little skeptical. We’d talked a few times via Twitter, and honestly, I just couldn’t believe that someone could be that happy, vibrant, and energetic.

So we set up an interview and I had the chance to talk to Danielle for 30-40 minutes about everything from Rumi to building an empire. At that point I realized that maybe she really was as kick-ass as everyone said she was. Hell, we hadn’t talked…ever, but in that 30 minutes I felt like I’d known her for years. It was a blast!

Getting the Book.

So it was with great excitement that I downloaded Danielle’s Firstarter Sessions. She’d been talking about this one for a while and I could tell that she was really proud of it. Having launched some digital books and courses on my own, I knew what that felt like.

Once I got the book in my hands, I thought I could read it in a night and have a review done by the next afternoon. Boy was I wrong!

The page count was 192, which didn’t include the videos and the video transcripts (tons of them), and after reading the first chapter on my PC, I decided to throw it on the iPad and read it on the couch. That was the first sign of things to come.

The Vibe

There aren’t very many great ebooks. I’ve paid $50 for a few that were OK, but none really rocked my world. However, this one was starting to.

Something about it made me want to sit down and read it with a glass of Merlot in my hand and some Miles Davis on the stereo.

This book not only provides a lot of great advice based on both Danielle’s history (her bio is pretty fascinating…best-selling book, Oprah stuff, TV stuff, big business stuff, etc) but some great case studies and stories from clients she’s worked with.

It’s the kind of book that you want to keep nearby and refer to on a daily basis.

If you’ve ever read one of Seth Godin’s books, you’ll know what I mean. It’s the kind of book that re-frames the way you think about your business and your life…makes you ask the tough questions.

It’s the kind of book that might make you uncomfortable with where you are so that you’ll stop lying to yourself, beating yourself up, and/or doing an injustice to your vision.

Once I got through a portion of the book, I realized that I’d much rather spend a few hundred on a life-changing, rock my world, type of book than I would $50 for something I’ll forget about once I’m done reading.

This one falls into the former.

It’s not very often that I give a full 5 stars and 2 thumbs up to something, but this one gets it done, and I’m more than happy to do just that.

Click here to see what I mean.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Print24. All opinions are 100% mine.

Print 24 In Review

Recently I was offered an opportunity to review the services of Print24 for a lovely fee, and being that I needed some business cards, I thought I’d take a shot at making it work.

I’ll start by saying that the first time I ordered business cards online was before Blogworld Expo last year. I ordered them from Overnight Prints and had them shipped to the hotel. Aside from the damn hotel charging me $10 as a “handling fee,” everything about that experience was great.

This experience? Not so much…

Ordering

I’m a pretty technical guy, and I’m able to navigate most web properties without a hitch, but trying to order business cards from Print24 was like trying to pull my arm hairs out 1 x 1.

The interface wasn’t intuitive, and the script they use to adjust options was slow and buggy.

Also, for the incredible amount of options offered for each product type, there was relatively little explanation, so by the time I ordered I still wasn’t sure what was going to arrive.

Simply put…if I wasn’t doing this for a review, I would’ve bailed and found another place to order business cards.

Design

They had a lot of pre-built templates, but in my opinion, none of them were worth using…not if you want to be taken seriously. However, to their credit, they also allowed me to design my own without an additional cost, so that’s what I did.

I’m pretty weak at Photoshop, but I was able to design something I liked, which was kind of cool.

When I uploaded the design, I was nervous because their design editor made it look blurry and pixelated. However, the thought of doing it over again and/or trying to use their built in editor terrified me…so I just ordered them as is.

Cost & Shipping

The price of 1000 cards, including shipping, was just a tad over $25…not too bad!

However, considering the shipping time was 6 days, I expected to receive them within a week. I ordered on March 26th and didn’t hear from them for another week, which was when they told me they were on schedule. A day later, they said they’d shipped. I received them on April 8th…

Terrible

It’s not that I expect them overnight, but 2 weeks is a bit long. It was good I didn’t need them for a conference or another event…I would have been pissed.

Quality

I’ve included a screen shot of the cards I received. Not too bad really…in fact, graphically, they looked better than I expected. They were a little thinner than I’d like, but since I didn’t choose a weightier stock I guess I can’t complain (explaining stock sizes while I ordered would have been nice).

I can use them though, and that’s what counts…so at least my effort wasn’t wasted.

Overall

Would I use Print24 again? No. I’d much prefer to go back to Overnight Prints and pay a bit more for premium service. My experience with Print24 was unpleasant, and for the most part, the entire process was robotic…like there weren’t any humans involved at all.

I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I have 1,000 cards I can use, but my recommendation to you is to try Overnight Prints instead.
