Homecoming: First Hug after Afghanistan

You might have seen my video, but in case you didn’t, my son Gabriel, who’s in the above photo, turned 8 this week.

It’s a big deal for me because it seems like it was just yesterday that he had a full mouth of baby teeth and was light enough to carry around.

Time goes too fast.

Anyway, now that my blog is 2, and I feel like I know some of you in the same way that I know my family, I wanted to find a way to celebrate online in the same way we have off.

I talked with Mike about it, and he came up with a great idea. Instead of asking you to send presents (FYI, he loves Bionicles and K’nex), we decided to give something to you in return.

We call it 8 for $8, and it’s our chance to not only have some fun, but to really provide some value in a way that takes price out of the equation. We were going to make it free, but let’s face it…8 for $8 on my son’s 8th birthday just has a ring to it.

Anyway, here’s the deal:

For 8 bucks you get Mike and I on the phone, reviewing your blog live while you bombard us with questions. We’ll record the whole thing and send it to you for free.

We can only do 8 because of time constraints (he is an old man, he needs his beauty sleep), and since we’ll likely have more than 8 people interested, we’re having a sort of competition. Not a huge deal, but you have to tell us why you need the help, over here.

We’ll chose the best 8 responses and get started next Monday. 4 per week.

What a great idea! I'd sign up, except you and Mike already critiqued my blog on the Beyond Blogging Project, and all the things you found to improve will keep me busy for at least a week. No, really, it was an awesome critique, and $8 for a blog critique really is a gift. Hope this doesn't put any price pressure on David Risley on his upsell of blog critiques with his Blog Masters Club. Now that I'm done causing trouble, I'll go get myself a cocktail.
