The Firestarter Sessions Review

When I first heard about this launch, I wasn’t sure what to think.
I’d heard nothing but positive comments about Danielle, and like all good cynics, that led me to be a little skeptical. We’d talked a few times via Twitter, and honestly, I just couldn’t believe that someone could be that happy, vibrant, and energetic.
So we set up an interview and I had the chance to talk to Danielle for 30-40 minutes about everything from Rumi to building an empire. At that point I realized that maybe she really was as kick-ass as everyone said she was. Hell, we hadn’t talked…ever, but in that 30 minutes I felt like I’d known her for years. It was a blast!
Getting the Book.
So it was with great excitement that I downloaded Danielle’s Firstarter Sessions. She’d been talking about this one for a while and I could tell that she was really proud of it. Having launched some digital books and courses on my own, I knew what that felt like.
Once I got the book in my hands, I thought I could read it in a night and have a review done by the next afternoon. Boy was I wrong!
The page count was 192, which didn’t include the videos and the video transcripts (tons of them), and after reading the first chapter on my PC, I decided to throw it on the iPad and read it on the couch. That was the first sign of things to come.
The Vibe
There aren’t very many great ebooks. I’ve paid $50 for a few that were OK, but none really rocked my world. However, this one was starting to.
Something about it made me want to sit down and read it with a glass of Merlot in my hand and some Miles Davis on the stereo.
This book not only provides a lot of great advice based on both Danielle’s history (her bio is pretty fascinating…best-selling book, Oprah stuff, TV stuff, big business stuff, etc) but some great case studies and stories from clients she’s worked with.
It’s the kind of book that you want to keep nearby and refer to on a daily basis.
If you’ve ever read one of Seth Godin’s books, you’ll know what I mean. It’s the kind of book that re-frames the way you think about your business and your life…makes you ask the tough questions.
It’s the kind of book that might make you uncomfortable with where you are so that you’ll stop lying to yourself, beating yourself up, and/or doing an injustice to your vision.
Once I got through a portion of the book, I realized that I’d much rather spend a few hundred on a life-changing, rock my world, type of book than I would $50 for something I’ll forget about once I’m done reading.
This one falls into the former.
It’s not very often that I give a full 5 stars and 2 thumbs up to something, but this one gets it done, and I’m more than happy to do just that.
