The Truth behind a Product Launch

As an online marketer and entrepreneur, you’ll need to get familiar with the process of a product launch if you want to learn how to sell goods to more than your parents.

Unfortunately, all of those books and courses that claim it’s easy don’t tell the whole story.

In this video, I share the real story behind product launches and explain every little detail that you’ll need to worry about if you want to create something special.

Of course, you don’t have to go through every step that I mention in this video, but it certainly helps to know them.

The video runs about 13 minutes, so grab a beer and enjoy.

Of course, this close to launch I can’t not mention the fact that Mike CJ and I are getting ready to launch the awesomeness that is Beyond Blogging. We’re launching in just over a week, and you can get in on the advanced discount list by clicking here.

  • Nathan,

This is one of the better video's I've seen a quite a while. Very honest and straight forward. I've never worked on a product launch, but this is something I want, and will, do in the upcoming year.

Where do you recommend starting when new to the product launch world?

Thanks again and I look forward to following this blog and learning more.
  • Jason,

Welcome and thanks for your comment.

A product launch can vary in difficulty and detail, but I recommend you either take a look at Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula, Read Dave Navarro's "How to Launch the $**t out of Your Ebook," or partner with someone that knows what they're doing and is willing to pay you to do the heavy lifting.

Then again, you could just go for it and learn as you go :)
  • Thanks for the great video and tips. I'm bookmarking.
  • Hi Nathan,

Thanks for this video. I couldn't have come across it and your blog at a better time.

I'm a big fan of whiteboards, and as I weave my way through the process of developing my first digital product to launch next month, I've touched on everything you mentioned. I still have a few big unanswered questions (I sent you a PM on Problogger). I certainly had no idea so much was involved after having read Yaro Starak's membership site ebook a few months ago.

On the other hand, I do seem to thrive on being in the trenches, learning new aspects of the whole equation every day. I know it will all make me a better blogger in the long run!
  • Awesome, so glad you found both :)

I finally had the opportunity to use a whiteboard for a variety of videos and I took advantage of it and made a bunch. Really makes it easy to explain and remember where you're at.

It's not easy, but it definitely is fun :)

    Hey Nathan,

Thanks for the video. I recently launched a product for the first time and I learned all of the things you just talked about the hard way, haha. The most annoying part was the technical setup of an ecommerce site. I used OScommerce and set up the gateway and all that stuff separately...for a first timer it was a bitch. Perhaps sometime in the future you could write a post on the most efficient way to set up an online store.

Also, where is a good place to go to learn more about affiliate marketing? I am new to this concept but realize the importance.

Good luck with your launch, I look forward to checking out your new stuff.

    Sean
  • Thanks Sean...as you know, there's a lot of work involved! I learn several things each time I do this, and although I've gotten MUCH better at it, changing payment processors from CB to 1SC has changed things up quite a bit.
  • Today I came to know about how to launch a product through online, and I am very much confident that your post will shine a day.And this is a very good article to read about.thanks Nathan.
