Worst Economic Time in History? I Call B.S.

Now, I appreciate the fact that people are concerned about my financial well-being, but the skeptic in me calls B.S. on that. The truth is that many of the people that give me this advice are the same people that are struggling as a result of the “financial downturn.” They are understandably affected by the changing economy and therefore think that everyone else will be too.

They Can’t Handle the Truth

Well here is the cold, hard truth…I’m better off now than I’ve ever been before. I don’t say this to brag, but I feel it is important for people to know that should you play your cards right, you have nothing to fear in this economy.

The reason I started my own businesses in the past and the reason that I’ve started my businesses now is because I swore to never be tied to a job or limited by other’s expectations of me. I’ve met countless gatekeepers on the way and I can tell you that some of them are downright furious that I’m doing well while they suffer. They want everyone to suffer with them.

It’s OK to Be Crazy

I’ve tried to tell other people how I do it, but none of them want to learn. My family still doesn’t believe me and my friends think I’m lying or crazy. Although I don’t understand why people won’t take the necessary steps to secure their own financial future, I’ll be damned if I won’t take advantage of my own opportunities.

It doesn’t take a lot of luck or talent to become successful as a webrepreneur. My recipe for success has been inspiration, dedication, and hard work. The same seems to be true of many of my peers in this industry. If you pay attention, you’ll notice that there are more people making a living online now than there have ever been before. I could name 20 people right now that are making more money now than they were when the economy was great.

If you are devoted to following your passion and achieving your dreams, then it will happen if you work hard enough.Don’t let all these naysayers drag you down to their level. Set the example…be the vision of success that others aspire to. Help others, educate, and inspire. If they don’t accept the truth, then there is nothing that you can do to help them.

So I’ll say it one more time:

Economic Crisis? I don’t think so.

Release Your Dreams

  • you really need to study the economy, it will take decades for it to recover, we are so far into debt it is unreal yet the govt keeps writing checks with no gold or silver to back it up, so it is fiat money it is just paper.
  • I'm not referring to the massive amounts of Chinese debt we've built up over the past decade. I'm referring to the opportunities for the entrepreneur. People need to quit relying on a paycheck and start making their dreams come true.
  • Awesome post on this matter. I think innovation should play a better part in our lives to get out of this recession. with over 20,000,000 million people out of work. There's ton of room for tremendous improvement.

  • Great post Nathan and I'm with you. If we all would refuse to buy into a "economic crisis" it would be a faded memory!
  • Nice post. I agree with you. There are many opportunities at the moment.

I also find it hard to explain the concept of 'webrepreneur' to people in real life. They just don't understand it.

  • Michael, great to hear what you think and I appreciate your kind comments. My friends and family all think I'm crazy, but that's the fun of going against the grain :)

  • You bet it's okay to be CRAZY. I am and I love it. Sometimes we make our own luck. And I think we all have more control over things than we think.

You are a 'take charge' kind of guy. And I think that's great...and a big part of your success.

    Keep it up!

  • It's not crazy-- it's called thinking outside the box and it's great. Thanks for your service, but glad you are getting out of the army--not the place for thinking outside the box-- oooooh no:-)
